Sildenafil/Testosterone troches (Quantity: 10)
Quantity: 10 troches
This medication is a sublingual troche containing a combination of the medications, Sildenafil and Testosterone.
Sildenafil is categorized as a Selective Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. It is a vasoactive agent that is commonly prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men, as well as reduce symptoms in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Sildenafil increases blood flow to particular areas of the body, including the penis, by decreasing vascular resistance and causing relaxation of the muscles.
Sildenafil was the first PDE5 inhibitor to arrive on the market in 1998. The effects of sildenafil last for approximately four hours, and patients should be instructed to use no more than one dose within 24 hours. Fatty meals reduce the absorption of sildenafil; therefore, the drug should be taken on an empwty stomach.
Testosterone is the primary androgen in the body that controls growth, development, and function of male sexual organs and characteristics. This is a controlled medication, commonly prescribed for the treatment of low testosterone levels in males (hypogonadism) who do not produce enough natural testosterone. It can also be prescribed in specific adolescent cases to induce puberty in those who are experiencing a delay.
Men frequently experience declines in testosterone levels that correlate with the hormonal changes that women experience at menopause, however, men typically have a slower and more subtle hormonal decline, and develop symptoms over a period of time. When hormones are replaced or restored back to physiologic levels considered normal for younger males, men may experience a dramatic reversal of many of these changes.
