DHEA-Sulfate LabCorp
This test identifies Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) levels, which can help identify hormonal deficiencies.
LabCorp Test #: 004020, CPT: 82627

What is this test?
The DHEA-Sulfate test identifies the level of Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in your blood. DHEA is produced by the adrenal glands and aids in the production of male and female sex hormones. Decreased levels of DHEA are typically found in those with hormone deficiencies.
Because DHEA is a precursor to key hormones like Testosterone and Estrogen, DHEA levels are an important marker of hormone health. If a deficiency is identified, treatment may include supplementing DHEA, along with other hormones (as appropriate).
Other conditions associated with DHEA deficiency include diabetes, heart disease, inflammation, immune disorders, osteoporosis, HIV/AIDS, and Alzheimer's disease.
Who is this test for?
This test is for anyone looking to identify their DHEA levels for a greater understanding of their overall hormone balance. The DHEA-Sulfate test is included in both the Men’s and Women’s Initial Hormone and Wellness panels.
