Estradiol, Free LabCorp
This test measures the amount of free (unbound) estradiol in the blood to detect an imbalance.

What is this test?
The Free Estradiol Test measures the amount of estradiol in the blood. This test specifically measures free estradiol, which is the amount of unbound estradiol as well as the amount bound to proteins with low affinity.
An estrogen hormone deficiency can lead to symptoms like hot flashes, insomnia and night sweats, mood swings, depression and anxiety, fat gain around the middle and other areas, changes in body composition, and others.
Estrogen is found within the body in three forms in women: Estradiol (the most common), Estriol (the most abundant during pregnancy), and Estrone (the sole Estrogen your body continues to produce after menopause). Measuring Estradiol helps identify whether you may have a hormone deficiency.
Who is this test for?
This test can provide additional information on free Estrogen levels, specifically, which can correlate better with certain medical conditions. If you are having estrogen deficiency symptoms, we typically recommend two other Estrogen tests first: The Estradiol Test for Women and the Estradiol Sensitive Test for men. Male patients require a more sensitive test due to having less Estrogen naturally in the body.
