DHEA, Serum LabCorp
This test measures DHEA blood serum levels to detect various disorders and deficiencies.

What is this test?
The DHEA Serum Test measures the level of Dehydroepiandroserone (DHEA) in the blood. DHEA is an important hormone that supports Testosterone and Estrogen production. Low DHEA levels can indicate a hormone deficiency in men and women.
DHEA insufficiency can also be caused by Alzheimer's disease, depression, diabetes, certain immune conditions, heart disease, inflammation, and osteoporosis. Medications like birth control and certain psychiatric prescriptions can cause low DHEA levels, as well.
DHEA deficiency symptoms include sexual dysfunction, low sex drive, vaginal changes in women, infertility, fatigue and lack of energy, and unexplained weight loss.
Who is this test for?
If you are experiencing the symptoms above, this test can detect whether a DHEA deficiency is the cause. This test measures the amount of unconjugated, or DHEA unbound to sulfate, in the blood.
Another DHEA test, DHEA Sulfate (DHEAS), identifies the amount of DHEA bonded to sulfate in the blood. DHEAS is much more common throughout the body and measuring it provides a more accurate understanding of DHEA levels, which is why Defy Medical includes the DHEA Sulfate Test in our Men’s and Women’s Wellness Panels.
