This test is used to help detect and confirm autoimmune thyroiditis and Hashimoto thyroiditis.

LabCorp Test #: 006685, CPT: 86800

What is this test?

The Thyroglobulin Antibodies Test measures for Thyroglobulin antibodies in the blood. Thyroglobulin is a protein found within the thyroid, from which thyroid hormones are produced. If the body is creating detectable levels of Thyroglobulin antibodies, it points to autoimmune-driven thyroid disease. These types of diseases include Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Grave's Disease, among others.

Who is this test for?

If you are experiencing symptoms of thyroid disease that include fatigue, difficulty adjusting to temperatures (warm or cool), coarse hair and skin, heart palpitations, and others, this test can help identify whether a thyroid disease is the cause. The Thyroglobulin Antibodies Test is recommended in conjunction with other thyroid tests to paint a full picture of your thyroid health. The Complete Thyroid Panel includes this test, along with other thyroid health markers.
