Testosterone, Free, Direct LabCorp
This test measures the amount of free Testosterone in your blood to aid in the diagnosis of a Testosterone deficiency.

What is this test?
The Free Testosterone Test measures the amount of free, or unbound, Testosterone in your blood. Testosterone is found in two majors forms in the bloodstream: free, and attached to sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). Free Testosterone is the form that can be most readily used by the body, which is why it’s an important marker when testing for a Testosterone deficiency. Women and men both produce Testosterone and can experience a Testosterone deficiency, although women produce it in smaller quantities than men.
Testosterone plays many important functions in the body, including supporting sexual health, muscle development, wound healing, and more. Symptoms of a Testosterone deficiency include fatigue, mood changes, sexual dysfunction and loss of libido, anxiety and depression, body composition changes and fat gain, difficulty recovering from exercise or injury, and more.
Who is this test for?
This test is for men and women who want to measure the amount of free Testosterone in the blood. Many times, Free Testosterone is measured alongside Total Testosterone (the total amount of free and bound Testosterone), along with other hormone and wellness tests.
