Follow-up HRT Lab Panel for Women (with DHEA, Serum) Quest
This follow-up panel is to help women track their progress with HRT and includes the DHEA Serum test.
What is this test?
The Follow-up HRT Lab Panel for Women with DHEA Serum measures the progress of women on an HRT plan. This panel includes DHEA Serum instead of the DHEA-Sulfate Test included in the standard Follow-Up HRT Panel for Women.
DHEA-Sulfate (DHEAS) is the most abundant form of DHEA in the body and measuring DHEAS is typically the preferred way to test DHEA levels accurately. However, there are medical reasons to order a DHEA Serum Test instead. If your hormone restoration protocol includes topical DHEA (cream or lotion), then the DHEA Serum Test may be a better test to measure your progress. We recommend speaking to a provider prior to ordering your follow-up panel to ensure you are ordering the best panel for you.

Who is this test for?
This test is for female patients who are currently on an HRT protocol to track their progress, assess their levels, and make adjustments as necessary for optimized results. Men and women require separate HRT panels because of the differences in the way hormones are secreted and utilized within the body.
The Follow-up HRT Panel for Women with DHEA Serum is usually recommended for patients who are utilizing a DHEA lotion or cream a part of their protocol. Other HRT patients are typically recommended to order the standard Follow-up HRT Panel for Women. Check with your provider prior to ordering to make sure you order the correct panel based on your individualized needs.
